People are competitive by nature, some of us more than others. How good are you at competitive banter? Can you joke about others and laugh it off when they joke about you? Can you give as eloquent and as clever and as light-hearted as you receive? Let's practice one of the most artful, subtle, and absolutely essential language skills of all: competitive banter! In this club, Alysia will break down the art of competitive banter as if it were a science and we'll practice with each other. This will be a lesson in language, culture, and the fine art of real conversation.

To truly master a language, you must be able to handle banter. Banter is an enjoyable conversation between friends and is filled with pop culture references, humour, and even a few digs. Digs are light-hearted insults that friends give to each other. If you can do that, you're well on your way to language mastery!

Mastering competitive banter shows that you're confident in who you are and yet not so serious that you're inapproachable. Being good at it will help you get jobs, friends, new networks, and endless social opportunities. And the ability to do it often brings on instant results and even respect from those who originally didn't give it to you.
